April,May, June Summary

Hello there!

Here is my wrap-up for the last three months. I have been grouping my Wrap-Ups and TBRs into three-month chunks this year. Well, this is going to be the last time because starting in July I will go back to posting these monthly! YAY! Now that, that is said let’s talk about books.

1. As Old as Time by Liz Braswell IMG_0891

This is the third book in the A Twisted Tale series and this focuses on Beauty and the Beast where the twist is “What if Belle’s mother cursed the Beast?”. I was so excited to read this book because BATB (1991) is my favorite movie and I was curious to see how I would like this retelling. I did enjoy myself reading myself but I did not love it as much as I thought I would. If you want to read more about my thoughts check out my review!

2. What the Valley Knows by Heather ChristieUnknown

I received this book from Black Rose Writing. This is the story of Molly and her life moving to a new town. From the start, we know that Molly and her boyfriend get into a car accident and Molly forgets something important that she was about to tell her mother and boyfriend. This was also a good read but there were things that I didn’t enjoy about it. If you want to know more check out my spoiler-free review where I go into more detail of the synopsis and my thoughts.

3. Wires and Nerve Vol 2: Gone Rouge by Marissa MeyerIMG_1639

What can I say about this? This is the second volume of Wires and Nerve which follows the characters of The Lunar Chronicles. It is always so fun to be with these characters and I loved this second volume.

4. An Ember in the Ashes (Ember #1)  by Sabaa Tahir Unknown-1

I picked this book up because the third book in the series was about to be released and I have heard so much about this series so I decided to give this a try. I did like it but not as much as everyone else seems to like it. If you would like me to do a full review of this book let me know!

5. Reflection ( A Twisted Tale #4) by Elizabeth Lim IMG_1638

A twist on the story of Mulan. In this story, the twist is “What if Mulan had to travel to the underworld?”. I think this is my favorite book in this series so far. I really had a fun time diving into this story. I also have a review of this book!

6. Allied ( Ruined #3) by Amy Tintera2C4F98A4-B2FD-4B97-BA84-107A171F3FC9

This is the final book in the Ruined trilogy and I think this was a really good finally to the story. I think I did want a bit more. I have full on reviews of all of the books in this series so check them out!

Review: Allied by Amy Tintera

Hello there!

I have finally finished reading Allied the last book in the Ruined trilogy by Amy Tintera. I say finally because it took me close to a month to finish it. I am not even sure why. Well, that being said let’s get into the actual review.

I will start off by saying that this book is told from multiple perspectives. The other books in this trilogy were also told from multiple POV but in this case, it was more POV than the other books so it took me a while to get into it. Also, the POV will change mid-chapter so I would have to adjust to the new POV quickly. Another thing is that Allied wasn’t as action-packed as the first two books. There was a lot of planning happening in this. That being said, once the action started it really had me at the edge of my seat. There was one point where a plan was about to be executed and I was really nervous to see how it would work out as well as how the characters would react.

Some of the things that I really enjoyed about Allied was, of course, seeing the BB0DE8C3-E3DF-4564-8B84-3D451AE42364interactions between Em and Cas because cute! Also, it was really interesting seeing Olivia’s development because in not so many words she is crazy! Anytime she did or said something I was thinking ” Wow! This girl is insane!” Olivia is very stubborn and it was really intriguing to see how her stubbornness affected her fate at the end.

Now let’s talk a little bit about August. August…wow he is such an idiot! It was fun to read what he said and did because he is an idiot. The way that he thinks and blames others for things that occurred because of his actions is just baffling. August is a good character because when you see that he thinks and does you are just thinking “seriously dude?”.

All in all, I think this was a really good conclusion to the trilogy. I gave Allied 3 stars out of 5, it lost two stars because I was looking for a bit more from it. Like I said I did really enjoy the experience I had reading Allied. If you have not read this trilogy yet please do! It is a fun adventure. Let me know in the comments if you have read this trilogy and your thoughts on it.

Book: Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella

Reason: I just love their relationship. They have their ups and downs but they are always there for each other when it matters. Also, Luke is able to put up with Becky who is a handful because she is so ridiculous but that is why he loves her and all the readers as well. It is never boring when Becky is around. One more thing Luke is husband goals. Continue reading “My Favorite Relationships in Books”
