So, last year when Pretty Little Liars ended I did a blog post about what I loved about the show and saying goodbye. I thought that since Once Upon a Time ended this past Friday I should do the same with Once Upon a Time.
I remember when I first heard about the show. I was at the movie theater about to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. They played the tailor for Once Upon a Time before the movie previews. I love Disney and fairy tales so when I watched the trailer I knew that I had to watch the show when I premiered on October 23, 2011. Once I watched the premiere I knew that this show will be something I will absolutely love. Continue reading “And They Lived Happily Ever After : Goodbye to Once Upon a Time”
This post is going to be on my thoughts of As Old as Time: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell. The A Twisted Tale series takes the Disney movies that we love and adds a twist to it to make it different. In this book it Liz Braswell retells the story of Beauty and the Beast and asks the question ” What if Belle’s mother cursed the Beast?”. I have been wanting to read this book ever since it came out in 2016! Finally, I got my hands on a copy and I will tell you what I thought about this new tale as old as time.
I will start off by saying that Beauty and the Beast (1991) is my favorite movie. Not my favorite Disney movie, not my favorite animated film but my favorite movie period. I have read a few Beauty and the Beast retellings and I have not found one that I have absolutely loved. I think I have such high standards that I haven’t found a Beauty and the Beast retelling that just blew me away. That being said As Old as time came pretty close to it but it ended up not being what I hoped it would be. Continue reading “Oh My Fairytales: As Old as Time by Liz Braswell”
In this post, I will be reviewing Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao. This is a spoiler free review so you can continue reading with no fear. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns is the debut novel for Dao published by Philomel Books an imprint of Penguin Random House. This book was released on October 10th 2017. The second book Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix is set to release on October 23rd, 2018. I believe this is a duology.
This is an Evil Queen from Snow White reimagining set in East Asian-inspired fantasy world. It has been destined that Xifeng (SHE-fung) will become Empress of Feng Lu and Xifeng really wants this to come true but that future comes at a high price. She has to reject the young man that is in love with her and she has to embrace the dark magic in her. The way that Xifeng can fuel her magic is by eating the hearts of the recently killed. The God that has put her on this journey will not be happy until his power is complete. Continue reading “Review: Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao”
In this post, I will be discussing all the books I read in February and everything I plan to read in March. I think I had a decent reading month in February. So I am excited to share with you all, all my thoughts. Now on to the books!
1) Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
I started Cruel Beauty in January and was able to finish it in February. This book was okay. There were a lot of times while reading, that I really did not know what was happening. If certain things were explained more I feel that this book would have been a four or five-star book. Continue reading “February Summary and Coming up in March”
Now I know I haven’t done an Oh My Fairytales post in a looooooong time. Thankfully the wait is over since I have read a The Snow Queen. So here is the deal a few weeks ago Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige was released. Stealing Snow is a Snow Queen retelling so I had to read the original fairy tale before starting Stealing Snow. I wanted to be able to pick out the similarities and differences while reading Stealing Snow. Here are my thoughts… Continue reading “Oh My Fairytales 2: The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen”
