Welcome to another post in my Oh My Fairytales series! This post is on the book Ounce Upon a Dream: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell. This is the second book in the A Twisted Tale series where Braswell takes a Disney movie and twists the stories by changing one important factor. In Once Upon a Dream Braswell twists the story of Sleeping Beauty, the twist is “what if the sleeping beauty never woke up?”. The first book in the series is A Whole New World which I have a review of so you can check that out! Now let’s get into the review. This post is going to be on what I have been experiencing so far in the planning stages of my book. I will first talk about what I have so far without giving too much detail. Then I will go into what I hope to get done next. Now let’s get into it. Continue reading “Writing Update #1”
On this post, I will be going into detail on my thoughts of King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard. This review will have spoilers so if you are looking for a spoiler-free review you can check mine out! (KC Review Spoiler Free). Now let’s get into this review.
Okay, let me start off by saying that I enjoyed the pacing for most of the book. Since Mare was taken by Maven as a prisoner I thought that her escape/ rescue was going to happen too quick. I thought that it might have been a chapter or two of Mare being held prisoner by Maven but it actually took a good portion of the book. Which I felt made it feel more realistic, also it took several tries for Mare to get away. I feel that sometimes in books or movies the rescue or escape happens the first try. So I really liked that, that wasn’t rushed. Continue reading “Book Monologue 6 : King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard”

Last week on February 7th, 2017 my most anticipated 2017 book was released! Let’s back it up a little to 2015. My favorite author Sophie Kinsella published two books in 2015 so I knew that in 2016 she would not release a new book. That said I have been waiting for this new book for over a year so I was so excited when I finally got my hands on a copy of My Not So Perfect Life. By the way, if you want to see what happened when I went on a book hunt to get this book check out my video Book Hunt Adventure! Now let’s get into this review because I have a lot of feels! First off, I know this review is super late. This should have been posted the end of January but stuff happened and today is the day that I was finally able to get this up. Today’s post is on my thoughts on Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. Let me start off by saying that I was really excited to read this book and I had been wanting to read this for a year or two. I am so glad that I was finally able to give Cruel Beauty a read.
Cruel Beauty is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, that is the main reason I wanted to read this book. Nyx our main character has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom since birth. This is all due to the fact that her father struck a deal with the Gentle Lord. The price of that deal was one of his daughters. This story is about Nyx and what happens when she comes face to face with the husband she is supposed to kill. Continue reading “Review: Cruel Beauty by: Rosamund Hodge”
This post is going to be on my thoughts on Heartless by Marissa Meyer. I had been looking forward to this book ever since I finished Winter by Meyer which I read January 2016. I absolutely fell in love with the Lunar Chronicles so I was looking forward to finally reading Heartless. Heartless is Meyer’s first book outside of the Lunar Chronicles world as well as her first stand-alone book. What this book is about is the story of a girl named Catherine who we all know today as the Queen of Hearts. All Catherine wanted to do was open a bakery with her best friend but that is not what the world had planned for her. Continue reading “Review : Heartless by Marissa Meyer”

This post is on my thoughts on The Sun is Also A Star by: Nicola Yoon. This post will also be different from my other reviews. The first part of this post will be spoiler free then I will go into some of my spoiler thoughts. Do not worry I will let you know when that happens so that you are not spoiled if you have not read The Sun is Also a Star yet. Now on to the review.
The Sun is Also a Star is about a girl named Natasha who thinks about everything in a very scientific way also Natasha and her family are being deported back to Jamaica that night. Then there is Daniel who is a dreamer that is trying to please his family, these two could not be any more different. These differences are the very thing that draws them together. Set in twelve hours Natasha and Daniel meet and Daniel is trying to make Natasha fall in love with him. This may be the main plot of this story but there is so much more to it. This book is told from multiple points of view, but it is done in a way that it is not confusing or annoying. Each perspective adds to the story in just the right way.
