The end of August is near us and with the end of August comes the end of Summer and the start of school. So, I decided to tell you guys some books that I had to read in school that I actually liked. This list will include both books I read in High School and College. Now let’s get into this list.
1) Antigone by Sophocles
“The curse placed on Oedipus lingers and haunts a younger generation in this new and brilliant translation of Sophocles’ classic drama. The daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, Antigone is an unconventional heroine who pits her beliefs against the King of Thebes in a bloody test of wills that leaves few unharmed. Emotions fly as she challenges the king for the right to bury her own brother. Determined but doomed, Antigone shows her inner strength throughout the play.” – GoodReads Continue reading “Required School Reads I liked”
Today’s post is on my thoughts of Famous In Love by Rebecca Serle. I read this during BookTube-A-Thon as my “read a book with a person on the cover.” I will say this from now, this wasn’t the best read I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. And I will tell you what I liked and what I just didn’t work for me.
Famous In Love is about Paige Townsen she loves acting and that is her life goal. So when auditions are being held in her town for the book to movie adaptation of the hottest book series Locked she decides to audition. This is the story of a new actress learning about the Hollywood life and Hollywood romance. Continue reading “Review: Famous In Love by Rebecca Serle”
I am finally doing my review of Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake! I finished reading TDC right before BookTube-A-Thon stated so over two weeks ago. So here it finally is, hope you enjoy.
“Three dark queens are born in a glen, sweet little triplets will never be friends. Three dark sisters all fair to be seen, two to devour and one to be Queen.”
Three Dark Crowns is about triplet sisters that all have an equal right to the throne. The only thing is that to find out who will be queen once they turn sixteen they have to fight to the death until only one queen is standing. Also, each triplet has a certain power: Katharine is a poisoner, Arsinoe is a naturalist, and Mirabella is an elemental.
This post is going to be on what I am planning on reading in August! Hope you enjoy!
1) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling
I actually started this at the start of July but only got a few chapters in. So I am looking forward to continuing this book this month. Continue reading “Coming up in August”
This post is on my thoughts on The Sun is Also A Star by: Nicola Yoon. This post will also be different from my other reviews. The first part of this post will be spoiler free then I will go into some of my spoiler thoughts. Do not worry I will let you know when that happens so that you are not spoiled if you have not read The Sun is Also a Star yet. Now on to the review.
The Sun is Also a Star is about a girl named Natasha who thinks about everything in a very scientific way also Natasha and her family are being deported back to Jamaica that night. Then there is Daniel who is a dreamer that is trying to please his family, these two could not be any more different. These differences are the very thing that draws them together. Set in twelve hours Natasha and Daniel meet and Daniel is trying to make Natasha fall in love with him. This may be the main plot of this story but there is so much more to it. This book is told from multiple points of view, but it is done in a way that it is not confusing or annoying. Each perspective adds to the story in just the right way.
