Note! This is a re-upload. I somehow moved this to drafts so I had to publish it again. I don’t even know how that happened. SMH. This was originally published June 2017.
This past weekend I was able to attend BookCon in NYC, thanks to my friend Carleny for the early birthday gift. Carleny also has a book blog called Warning: Spoiler Alert check it out after you read this post. This post will be about my experience at BookCon and a haul on the things I got. Now, let’s get into it.
The first day of BookCon Carleny and I decided to get to the Javits Center by 8 am ( the show floor opened at 10 am). We know that people like to get their really early to be one of the first people on the show floor. So, I got up at 6 am and was out of my house by 7 am. Carleny and I got to the Javits at about 8:10 am. Guys, by that time there was already so many people there it was insane. Then we had to wait for the show floor to open at 10 am. After so much waiting they were finally letting us in, Carleny and I were on the show floor at about 10:15 am. The first thing we did was search for the booth where First In Line would be because we had received an email to go to their booth to pick up a Underlined Swag tote with a surprise box full of bookish fun. Let me tell you we had a little trouble finding the booth turned out they were in the Penguin booth. Continue reading “BookCon Day 1: Experience and Haul”→
One week later and I am finally posting the second part to my BookCon post. This will be all about day two let’s just get into it.
After the first day, Carleny and I realized that if we wanted to get the One Dark Throne Arc we had to get to the Javits Center earlier than we did on day one. So we agreed to meet up on Sunday at 7 am. This meant that we had to wake up at 5 am and leave by 6 am. Carleny had to leave her house around 5:45 am because she lives feather from Manhattan than I do. Early that morning I get a text from Carleny that says “I’m up, don’t make me call you!” and I responded with “I’m up!”. After such a long day on Saturday and then having to be up at 5 Am we were not in the most chipper mood to be up that early. I was on the train by a little after 6 am and I was shocked at a number of people on the train that early on a Sunday ha ha. I met up with Carleny and we were on the line at about 7:05 Am. Since we got to the Javits Center earlier on Sunday we had to line up outside since the queue hall didn’t open until 8 Am. Continue reading “BookCon Day 2: Experience and Haul”→
Today’s post will be on what I read in May as well as what books I bought. Then I will discuss what I have planned for June. Let me start off by saying that May did not go as planned I did not read as much as I wanted to. Hopefully June will be a better month! Now let’s get into it!
What I read in May
Sadly the only thing I read in May was Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard, and I did not even finish it. I am now 50% into the book so hopefully I will finish it by the end of this week.
I precent to you something that has been long a waited (at least for me) a book review! This will be spoiler free so do not fear and read on. This review is on Everything, Everything by: Nicola Yoon which is her debut book. Okay, I want to say this first because I do not want this to happen to anyone. So when I got the book I was admiring how beautiful it was, then I noticed that there is one random black page. I thought “I wonder what is on this page?”, my theory was that, that page marked a point where extras will begin like a Q and A or something like that. I went on to look at the page and boy was I wrong! This page had three words on it and as soon as I read it I wished that I could take it back. Talk about being spoiled! Yes I spoiled myself I thought so thats how its gonna end. While reading the book I kept thinking I know how its gonna end, but I was wrong it did go a different direction. Long story short don’t read that black page you will not be happy with yourself. Now on to the actual review.
On March 20th I went to the NYC Teen Author Festival at Books of Wonder. Which at, a bunch of authors went and signed books. My friend told me about the event so we ended up going and I picked up one book there and got it signed by the amazing author. Later we went to Strand Bookstore since it was near by and I picked up some books there. So continue reading to find out what books I got!
Everything Everything by: Nicola Yoon
I got this book at the Books of Wonder event. Everything Everything is about a girl that is allergic to the world. Madeline has not left her house her entire life and the only people that she interacts with is her mother and Nurse. That is until a new family moves in next door and the boy catches her eye. That is when everything changes. I currently reading this and I am almost done with it. I am loving it so far so look out for a review coming soon! One without spoilers and another with.
So on wednesday I took a trip down to the library with my friend Carleny who is also a book blogger. Usually I borrow one or two books but not that day. There were so many good books available I just had to get them. Not having to place any books on hold um yes please! I ended up taking out 7 books, that is the most I have borrowed at one time. My thought “if i can’t read them all by the time they are due I can just renew them, if not there is no harm done.” I have been on a book buying ban and I realized that I get the same excitement that I get when I buy books by just borrowing them. Yes I know you can’t keep them but it beats buying a book and then finding out that you don’t like the book. Now lets get to the books that I got.
