I am finally doing a new book review! It has been almost two months since my last one. In fact I haven’t posted anything since my last review in January but I am hoping to post more starting right now. In this post I will be reviewing I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella. Kinsella is my favorite author so anytime she comes out with a new book I have to buy it and read it right away. That being said let’s get into this review.
I had a rough start when I first picked up this book. It took me a month to read because the first half of this book was just not doing it for me. I felt that it took a long time for the story to pick up and for the whole “I owe you” situation to actually happen. Once the plot started to pick up I did get more invested in the story and enjoyed what was happening in the story.
One of the things that I really enjoy aout I Owe You One is that the main character Fixie had a lot of character development. At the start she was afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself and by the end she finally started to speak what was on her mind and not let anyone bring her down. At first her siblings were really annoying and I am glad that they had a lot of character development as well. The one character that I could not stand from start to finish was Ryan, he was such an ass. There is no other way to put that he annoyed me so much I don’t know what Fixie ever saw in him.
Most of Kinsellas books focus on a romance and this book was no different except that it took much longer to get the relationship started which made their relationship develop at a much faster rate. So, it felt that the relationship happened too quickly because they started to interact with each other more in the second half of the book.
All in all, this was a fun read once the plot started to pick up. I did give I Owe You One four out of five stars because the second half of the book really made up for the first half that I wasn’t crazy about and I did enjoy how this story ended. Please let me know if you have read I Owe You One and what you thought of it.
Until next time book nerds,
