Hello there!
As most of you may know the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movie was released on Netflix this month. I saw the trailer before it came out and I thought it looked interesting, I had not read the book yet so I decided to read the book before watching the movie. In this blog post, I will give you all, my thoughts on both the book and the movie.
The Book:
I really enjoyed the book which for me YA contemporary is a hit or miss for me. I either really love it or I really hate it. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was a hit for me. It was just a nice fun light read and I had so much fun reading it. I really enjoyed the sister bond in this book, as well as the romance, was really cute. I think that the romance was a nice pace where it didn’t feel forced or rushed which I think made it feel a bit more realistic. I don’t know what else to say about the book spoiling it so I will leave it at that.
The Movie:
This was a really good adaptation of a book. I have seen adaptations go really wrong and I feel that To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before did a good job of keeping all the wonderful elements from the book as well as making it different and new. There were some things that were not included that I wish had been included but that is what happens when they make a movie from a book. Also, the romance felt more rushed but again movies go by faster than books so they have speed things up a bit more. I did enjoy that when things hit the fan the movie did it a bit different and I felt that it really worked out really well. It added a bit more dramatics which I think worked for a movie.
Ratings:
Book Rating: 4/5 stars
Movie Rating: 4/5 stars
I did film a video of me going into more detail about the book and movie with a section with spoilers so be on the lookout for that to a bit more of what I thought.
Until next time book nerds,
