Book Monologue #8: Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer

Hello there!

About a week ago I read Volume 1 of Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer.  I had a few feelings about the book so I thought I should make a blog post about it. This review will have spoilers on both The Lunar Chronicles and Wires and Nerve. That said if you haven’t read either come back and read this post once you do. Now on to the review!

I will start off by saying that I had so much fun being with these characters again. The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite book series so being able to read this and see where these characters have been since the events of Winter as well as before the events of Stars Above

One of the things that I really liked about Wires and Nerve is that it touched on a topic that is relevant today. Iko is very different from all other droids and some people don’t understand her and do not get that she is different. I feel that that happens a lot today where a person is different and there are others that don’t understand that someone can be different and they also don’t want to understand. IMG_0779

Now I want to talk about my favorite scene in Wires and Nerve which was the scene where Iko, Cress, and Throne go to escort droid shop. It was so funny to see Throne’s reaction to the droid that looked like him and he fell in love with it and wanted to buy it. That entire part of the book made me laugh so much. It also just brought me back to all of Throne’s ridiculousness in The Lunar Chronicles.

Now I am going to go into two things that bothered me a little and they both have to do with the way some characters were drawn. The first being Scarlet’s hair, in The Lunar Chronicles Scarlet is described to have curly hair. In Wires and Nerve she is drawn with wavy hair. That is one difference I noticed. The other thing I noticed was the fact that both Scarlet and Throne had all ten of their fingers. In the book, Cress the tip of Scarlet’s pinky finger is chopped off. Then in the book Winter Throne losses two of his fingers when Cress shoots his hand to stop him from shooting Cinder when he was being mind controlled. I mean these things aren’t a big deal but come on! Missing fingers club, hello!

Those are my thoughts on Wires and Nerve. Let me know in the comments your thoughts of Wires and Nerve. Also, have you read Volume 2 and what did you think about it. I can not wait to read Volume 2.

Until next time book nerds,

new signiture
