This past Saturday, March 3rd Zoe from ReadbyZoe on YouTube hosted her fifth 24-hour read-a-thon. In this post, I will let you guys know my experience participating in Zoe’s read-a-thon. Hope you enjoy.
Saturday, March 3rd, 12:00 AM
It hits midnight and I am so excited to start reading. This time around Zoe didn’t set a theme for the read-a-thon so I made up my own theme. Which was to read the library books I currently have out. The first book I picked up was The Bad Seed by William March. Like I have said before I learned about this book from Pretty Little Liars Season 1 Episode 18 The Badass Seed. On PLL they are putting on the play of The Bad Seed, the plot of it sounded so interesting I decided to read the book.
The Bad Seed is about this little eight-year-old girl named Rhoda Penmark and bad things seem to happen when she is around and her mother starts to question why that is.
I started reading at midnight and for some reason, I kept wanting to fall asleep while reading. It wasn’t that the book was boring me I just wanted to go to sleep. Which is odd because I stay up way past midnight most nights. So, there was no reason for me to already be tired. So, I read for an hour once I was done with chapter one.
Once it hit one Am I knew that I had to do something to wake myself up. So, I made myself some green tea and drank that plus some water. Thankfully I was feeling better with a bit more energy and ready to get back to The Bad Seed.
Around 1:30 AM I got back to reading and a got a few chapters in. Around 4:30AM I decided it was time to take a power nap. I thought okay I’ll sleep for three or four hours.
I believe I woke up around this time…don’t quote me on that. Once I was up from my power nap I got back to reading. Until around 3:00pm I believe I would read a chapter take a break, read a chapter take a break.
Around this time I had received some news about my family that I felt it wasn’t right to continue on with the read-a-thon. I was also filming my experience so after receiving the news I stopped filming updates. That said I did not finish the read-a-thon.
I read a total of 139 pages in the hours that I did participate in the read-a-thon. My main thought about The Bad Seed is that isn’t as exciting as I thought it was going to be. It is still an interesting book but not what I was expecting. I still have around seventy page left so I will let you know my thoughts once I finish the book.
That is it! My experience participating in Zoe’s 24-hour read-a-thon. Let me know in the comments if you participated and what you read. If you did not let me know how much have you read in a span of 24 hours.
Look out for my vlog coming out on Friday, March 9th on Tangled Up in Books.
Until next time book nerds,
