Review: Return to the Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz

Hello there!

I just want to start off by saying that this review will be spoiler free unlike my The Isle of the Lost review. This review is on the second book called Return to the Isle of the Lost. In this book, we pick up some time after the events of the first Descendants movie. Our four now reformed villains have gotten threatening messages to return to the Isle, they have to get to the bottom of this mystery and find out who is sending these messages. The other problem involves  Ben who is now King, who has to help Camelot to find out what monster has been terrorizing them.

I have to say that I am still enjoying these characters and their story. I thought that the plot was very good and their adventures were fun to read. I loved that each of the villain kids had something that they had to overcome physically and emotionally. When it came to the end of the book I loved the big reveal of who the monster terrorizing Camelot was. I totally didn’t see that coming. Other people probably did but I didn’t think of that until IMG_9352it was revealed. Once it was revealed I was like of course that makes so much sense and it was awesome. As always it was fun meeting the new characters that were inspired by the Disney movies we all grew up on. The one thing that bothered me was that it seems that obviously in the book they return to the Isle I mean it’s in the title of the book so not a spoiler. But in the second Descendants movie, they say that they haven’t returned to the Isle since the first time they left. Unless I heard that wrong which is possible. I am gonna have to watch the movie again to make sure.

All in all, I really enjoyed this second book and I can’t wait to finish the third ( Rise of the Isle of the Lost). I gave Return to the Isle of the Lost 4 out of 5 stars, I thought that this was a fun read and like I said before I recommend this series to any Disney fan. That is all! Let me know in the comments if you have read any of the Isle books and what you thought.

Until next time book nerds,
