July and BookTube-A-Thon Summary

Hello there!

This post is going to be on all the books I read in July! Which most of the books were read during BookTube-A-Thon. My August TBR will be in a separate post so that this one won’t be extremely long. Now let’s get into the books.IMG_8840

Before BookTube-A-Thon I was able to read one book which was Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. I did enjoy this book the ending completely took me by surprise. I will be discussing TDC in more detail in my review which will be coming soon.

BookTube-A-Thon Reads:

1) Famous in Love by Rebecca SerleIMG_8841

This book accomplished the reading challenge of reading a book with a person on the cover. This book was an okay read, it was an easy read and I did like it. I just didn’t love this book I probably won’t even read the next book in the series. It was just okay, again I will go into more detail in my review that will be posted in the coming weeks.

2) A Short History of the Girl Next Door by Jared ReckIMG_8843

This is the debut novel by Reck. I got an ARC at bookcon from First In Line, this book is being released September 26th. My review for this book will be posted closer to its release date. To tell you a bit about it, it is about a high school freshman named Matthew who is in love with his BFF/ Neighbour Tabby. The thing is that Tabby has her eye on a senior basketball player so it looks like Matt doesn’t have a chance. Then there is a tragic accident and Matt’s life completely falls apart. ASHOTGNT is described as “fiercely funny and heart-wrenching” and boy is it both those things. I will tell you I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more by Jared Reck. This completed the challenge of reading a book with a character that is completely different from you.

3) The Lightning Thief by Rick RiordanIMG_8844

This is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and I can not believe it took me this long to read this. I really enjoyed the book and I can not wait to continue with this series. I loved the fact that this was set in New York City because I live in NYC and it’s fun reading a book that is set where you live. I also really loved the characters and the adventure that they went on. Only thing is that I was able to predict one thing but it’s fine I still really enjoyed it. This completed the challenge of reading a hyped book.

4)  Sailor Moon Vol. 9 & 10 by Naoko Takeuchi

Like the rest of the Sailor Moon Manga, I really enjoyed these two books and I am so sad that I am almost done reading this series. I do not know what I will do when it’s over. This completed the challenge of reading a book in one day.

For BookTube-A-Thon a created a google sheets doc to help me keep track of all the reading I was doing during the week as well as all of the challenges I got the idea from Hardback Hoarder on YouTube! Check them out below!

I honestly thought I would only complete one book so completing five is amazing to me. Please let me know in the comments if you participated in BookTube-A-Thon and how many books you read.

Until next time book nerds,

Yari
