Books on my Shelf I need to Read ASAP

Hello there!

Have you ever bought a book and then months pass and that book has yet to be read? Well, this happens to more than I would like. This post is my top 5 books that have been on my shelves for way too long and I need to read ASAP. Let’s get into the list.

1.The Star Touched Queen by: Roshani Chokshi IMG_5591

I got this book back in May I believe. I went to a Books of Wonder event where Chokshi was one of the authors at the event and I found the subject of her book very interesting. After the little Q and A session, we were able to get our books signed. Chokshi was so nice and I left the event so excited to read her book. Now it is December and I have yet to read The Star Touched Queen. I will fix this soon and this will be one of the first books I read in 2017. What I know about this book is that the main character Maya is cursed. Her horoscope says that if she marries it will bring death and destruction. Maya’s father ends up setting up a marriage for her with another Kingdom. That is when things start to get interesting.

2. Red Rising by: Pierce Brown DSCN1049

I picked this book up at Strand Books in March. Yup March that long ago. I first heard about this book from Natasha from Tashpolis on YouTube. Red Rising is a trilogy set in Mars where “Darrow will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies…even if he must become one of them to do so.” One of the reasons I want to read this book is because the main character is a guy and all of the books I read have female leads. So I thought this would be a nice change to have a different perspective. This trilogy is complete so if you want to binge read you can. The books include Red Rising, Golden Son, and Morning Star.

3. Kill The Boy Band by: Goldy Moldavsky IMG_5186

I first saw this book at a Books of Wonder event and I was kinda offended by the title of the book. I did not know what the book was about but when I saw Kill the Boy band I was offended because I love the Backstreet Boys and it made me feel a certain type of way. Then like a week later at my local Target I read the description and realized that it sounds awesome. What I learned from this is don’t judge a book by its title. Kill The Boy band is about a group of friends that are in love with a boy band called The Ruperts and they end up kidnapping one of the members (the useless one) and that is when everything starts to get crazy.

4. Cruel Beauty by: Rosamund Hodge img_7424-jpg

I don’t remember the first time I heard about this book all I know is that I heard about it from booktube. All I really know is that this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling which honestly is all I need to know. I have mentioned this before that Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie so anything BATB I love. It actually took me a while to get this book because I couldn’t find a good used copy. My friend ended up finding a copy at the thrift store that she works at so thanks, Carleny you are the best!

5. The Lighting Thief by: Rick RiordanIMG_5571

Reasons I want to read this series: guy main character, greek gods, also I have heard great things about this series. Percy Jackson is on the verge of getting kicked out of boarding school and on top of that the monsters and gods from his books seem to be coming to life. Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the number one suspect. With only ten days Percy and his friends have to find the lighting bolt. This series just sounds so awesome and I can’t wait to get to this book.

That is it, the top 5 books on my bookshelves that I need to read ASAP. What are some books that you own that you still haven’t gotten the chance to read yet?

Until next time book nerds,

Yari
