What it is about:

Fei lives in a village where everyone is deaf so the communicate through sign language. Also, there is no way down the mountain due to an avalanche that happened years before. Due to this, they have a zip line where the township below sends them for in exchange for the medals that they mine. When the book starts we learn that the people are also starting to lose their sight. One night Fei regains her hearing, so to get answers about everything that is going on Fei sets out on a mission with a boy from her past to get the answers that they need.

My thoughts:

I enjoyed this book, it was a unique book and I am glad I gave it a chance. To read more about my thoughts check out my spoilerfree review.

2) A Court of Mist and Fury
by: Sarah J. MaasIMG_6630

This is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I started this book the last week of September so I was not able to finish it before the month was over. I am 145 pages in and I am liking it so far, I am still trying t really get into but I am sure that amazingness is around the corner just like book one.

What I bought:

1) The Glittering Court by: Richelle Mead

unknown

I went to Stand Books and picked this up. A brand new copy for $10! The Glittering Court was released in April and I could not believe that this was 50% off. I seriously thought there was something wrong with the book because it was too good to be true. When I saw that there were only two books left at that price I just had to get it.

What it is about:

Adelaide is a Countess and she is an arranged marriage that she does not want to be in. So Adelaide takes on the identity of a servant to join the Glittering Court, where they train girls not born with high titles to be more sophisticated.

2) Red Queen by: Victoria AveyardDSCN0861

I have already read Red Queen but I borrowed it from the library. When I found a used hardcover copy at Strand Books for 9 dollars I just had to get it.

What it is about:

In Mare’s world, the people are separated by blood, Red and Silvers. Reds are the “normal” people who work for the silvers who have magical abilities. mare is a Red and one day in front of the King it is discovered that Mare has powers of her own. How can that be if Mare is a Red? That is when the story truly begins.

October

What I plan to read:

1) A Court of Mist and Fury by: Sarah J. MaasIMG_5592

Since I did not finish this in September I will be continuing this in October.

2) Cruel Crown by: Victoria Aveyardunknown-1

This book contains two stories set in the Red Queen world, Queen Song and Steel Scars. Queen Song is the back story of Queen Corian the first wife of King Tiberius. Steel Scars is the back story of Farley. Truth be told I was not planning on reading these stories but I am behind on my Goodreads challenge so I thought I would throw in some short books so that I can reach my goal for this year. I do have a feeling that I will like this book, though.

3) Melody’s Key by: Dallas Coryellcover-jpeg

The author reached out to me and asked if I wanted to read Melody’s key and write a review. This was the first time I was asked to write a review so I jumped at the opportunity and said yes. Thank you, Dallas Coryell, I can not wait to read your book. Melody’s Key is a story about a girl who meets a guy that helps her see the brighter things in life. I do not know much about it but I am looking forward to reading this, this month.

4) Frankenstein by: Mary Shelly DSCN1056

I have been wanting to read more classics and I felt that October will be the best time to read this. I am also planning on watching the original movie and compare the two. I will let you guys know how that goes, I feel like it will be a good experience.

Well, that is it. Let me know in the comments what you will be ring this October or your thoughts on the books that I have listed her. No spoilers, please.

Until next time book nerds,

Yari
