This post is going to be The Reader Tag created by Penguin Teen to promote their new book The Reader by Traci Chee. The reader was released on September 13th, here is the synopsis:
“Sefia knows what it means to survive. After her father is brutally murdered, she flees into the wilderness with her aunt Nin, who teaches her to hunt, track, and steal. But when Nin is kidnapped, leaving Sefia completely alone, none of her survival skills can help her discover where Nin’s been taken, or if she’s even alive. The only clue to both her aunt’s disappearance and her father’s murder is the odd rectangular object her father left behind, an object she comes to realize is a book—a marvelous item unheard of in her otherwise illiterate society. With the help of this book, and the aid of a mysterious stranger with dark secrets of his own, Sefia sets out to rescue her aunt and find out what really happened the day her father was killed—and punish the people responsible.
With overlapping stories of swashbuckling pirates and merciless assassins, The Reader is a brilliantly told adventure from an extraordinary new talent.”
I thought this would be an interesting tag to do, here are my answers.
1)Choose 1 word that describes being a reader.
A reader is daring because when you read you are being transported into different worlds. So I feel that you need to be daring to jump into a world that you do not know. Especially if you are reading a new genre that you feel might not be your cup of tea.
2)What’s the very first book you fell in love with?
Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. I did not start reading for fun until I started college which was in 2008. So I can not remember a book prior to that, that I absolutely loved. This is the book that made me want to continue reading as a hoppy.
3)Hardcover or paperback?
Hardcover for my shelves. Paperback for reading.
4) How has reading shaped your identity?
Reading has helped me realize what I enjoy to do. If I had not started to read for fun I would have never started this blog and realize that I enjoy writing reviews and sharing my thoughts on the books I read.
5)What book do you read when you need to be comforted?
I like to re-read the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. Those books are so fun to read and I also appreciate and love them more the more I read them.
6)Who taught you to be a reader? (Or did you do it all on your own?)
It was my Middle School KIPP. They always told us the importance of reading and on every trip, each student had to have a book with them to read on the train (even if you were standing you had to read lol). We also sang a song called Read baby Read which was pretty much the anthem for our school. This always stayed with me which is why when I started college I decided to pick up a book and read it for fun.
7)Describe your dream reading lounge.
A few bookshelves and a comfy chair by a window with lots of light coming in.
8)What book changed the way you act or see the world?
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. When I read this book it just made me think about what I have and made me appreciate things more.
That is it! I tag Carleny from Warning Spoiler Alert to do this tag. Also, any book loving person out there.
Until next time book nerds,
