Beauty and the Beast Retellings

Hello there!

As some of you may know from my Let me introduce myself post my favorite movie is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. So in celebration of the release of the Beauty and the Beast live action movie teaser trailer. I decided to do a post on some Beauty and the Beast book retellings. Some of these I have already read, others I have been wanting to read. So let’s get into the list.

  1. Cruel Beauty by: Rosamund Hodge CB-15839984Nyx was destined to marry and kill the Beast in order to save her people. But, what happens when she starts to fall in love with the Beast? – I heard a lot of good things about this book on booktube so I am super excited to read this some time this year.
  2. Beastly by: Alex Flinn UnknownSet in New York City a popular high school student named Kyle is turned into a Beast by a girl in his English class. – I read Beastly back in 2009 as my travel book when I was heading to the Dominican Republic for summer vacation. I remember really liking this book, it was similar to the BATB story that I knew but in a different way. If you love BATB I think you will really like Beastly. Now the movie is a different story. I really did not like how they made the Beast look, he did not even look beastly! Which is why I still have not watched the movie. Let me know if you have watched the movie and what you thought of it.
  3. A Court of Thorns and Roses by: Sarah J. Maas Unknown-1A girl named Feyre kills a wolf, then a beast like creature goes to her home looking for vengeance. – I read ACOTAR the end of 2015. At first I felt the story was a little slow, but then things started to pick up and by the end I really enjoyed the story. It was loosely based off of BATB and I really enjoyed the similarities and differences between ACOTAR and the original story. Also I can not wait to read the sequel A Court of Mist and Fury.
  4.  The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty’s Prince by: Serena Valentino Unknown-4I believe this book is told from Beast’s perspective. TBW is published by Disney Press so what I am hoping for is the back story for the Beast and to get a little more information as to why he was turned into a Beast. Also what the hell happened to his parents! I am sure everyone wants to knew the answer to that question. I can not wait to get this book.
  5. As old As time ( A Twisted Tale #3) by: Liz Braswell Unknown-3The twist, “What if Belle’s mom cursed the Beast?”- A Disney Press book being released on September 6,2016 I am super excited for this to come out!

Let me know in the comments if you have read any of these books. Also are you looking forward to the live action Beauty and the Beast movie being released on March 17, 2017. I sure am!

Until next time book nerds,
