Library Book Haul

Hello there!

So on wednesday I took a trip down to the library with my friend Carleny  who is also a book blogger.  Usually I borrow one or two books but not that day. There were so many good books available I just had to get them. Not having to place any books on hold um yes please! I ended up taking out 7 books, that is the most I have borrowed at one time. My thought “if i can’t read them all by the time they are due I can just renew them, if not there is no harm done.”  I have been on a book buying ban and I realized that I get the same excitement that I get when I buy books by just borrowing them. Yes I know you can’t keep them but it beats buying a book and then finding out that you don’t like the book. Now lets get to the books that I got.

  1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by: Laini Taylor
“She had been innocent once, a little girl playing with feathers on the floor of a devil’s lair. She wasn’t innocent now….”

I don’t know much about this book, but I have heard good things so I decided to give it a try.

2. Ruby Red by: Kerstin Gier

“She wasn’t expecting to travel through time…or to lose her heart”

I have been meaning to read this book for a while now. What I know about it is that there is time traveling in it. The females in Gwen’s family are time travelers but they believe that the gene skipped Gwen. Turns out that it didn’t.

3. Talon by: Julie Kagawa

“”There are a dozen ‘St. George’ Soldiers hiding in that maze,” My trainer said. “All hunting you. All looking to kill you. Welcome to phase two of your training, hatchling.””

Now this book really caught my eye. Basically in this world there are dragons who can change to look like humans. The dragons are hunted but a solider can only kill them if they are certain that they really are a dragon.

4. Outlander by: Diana Gabaldon

“People disappear all the time. Ask any police man. Better yet, ask any journalist. Disappearances are bread-and-butter to journalists.  Young girls run away from home. Young children stray from their parents and are never seen again. Housewives reach the end of their tether and take the grocery money and a taxi to the station. International financiers change their names and vanish into the smoke of imported cigars. Many of the lost will be found, eventually, dead or alive. Disappearances, after all, have explanations. Usually. “

Outlander is another time traveling book. I know that the main character accidentally travels back in time while she is on a trip to Scotland with her husband. I decided to check out what all the hype is about. Since everyone seems to love the book and the show. Not sure yet if I will watch the show after reading the book.

5. Ethan Frome by: Edith Wharton

“For the first time he stole his arm about her, and she did not resist. They walked on as if they were floating on a summer stream.”

I read Ethan Frome the summer before my senior year of high school. Let me tell you I did not enjoy this book. I want to know since it has been almost 9 years that I read it the first time, maybe my opinion has changed now that I am older.

This is about how Ethan is unhappy about his life until the hired girl shows up. Can she be the answer to his happily ever after?

6. and 7. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon 4 and 5

“In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!

Truth be told…I never watched Sailor Moon when I was growing up. So I ended up watching the Anime for the first time about two years ago. Well I fell in love with it, so at the end of last year I decided to start reading the manga. I have read the first three and I am really enjoying reading them as well as watching Sailor Moon Crystal together.

That’s it! Let me know in the comments which of these books you have read. Also if you want to read a book from this list.

Until next time book nerds,
